What is Finish the Word?
Finish the Word at finishtheword.com is a free online word-chain game for 2–5 players. Each player types a word beginning with the last letter of the previous word, before the timer runs out. Words cannot repeat. Players start with two lives, and the last player remaining wins. Play in a desktop or mobile browser without installing an app.
How does a word chain work?
For example: apple → elephant → tiger. Apple ends in E, so elephant starts with E. Elephant ends in T, so tiger starts with T. In this game, occasional bonus prompts require a longer starting prefix; always follow the letters shown in the arena.

Is this the Roblox game?
No. This is an independent browser game inspired by Finish The Word! by Table Game X on Roblox. It is not the Roblox experience and is not affiliated with Roblox or Table Game X. This version has its own rules, dictionary, rankings, and rewards.
What words are accepted?
Multiplayer uses English, Spanish, and German word lists, plus valid Roman numerals of at least two letters, such as IV and IX. Every answer must match the displayed prefix and be unused in that match. The daily challenge uses its selected language and does not accept Roman numerals.
Learn the rules
Turns start at 15 seconds and shorten as the match progresses. A timeout or using all spelling attempts costs a life. Read the full rules and frequently asked questions for timers, lives, special prefixes, and mobile controls.
